Marc and Jason Dworkin: Founders of Nana’s Deli
Marc Dworkin and his son, Jason Dworkin, are the proud owners of Nana’s Deli, a beloved establishment with locations in Livingston and Jersey City, New Jersey. Both Marc and Jason are originally from Jersey City, and they have brought their deep-rooted love for the community and authentic culinary traditions to the deli, known for its Jewish and Italian specialties, warm hospitality, and strong community ties.
Marc Dworkin: The Visionary Founder
Marc’s culinary journey began in 1976 with the opening of The Cutting Board in Bayonne, New Jersey. Inspired by his grandmother, Rose—affectionately known as “Nana”—Marc introduced her secret tuna salad recipe, which quickly became a customer favorite. In 1981, Marc expanded his vision to Livingston with the opening of Nana’s Deli, naming it in honor of his grandmother. Over the decades, Nana’s Deli has become a local institution, recognized for its signature recipes and home-style comfort food.
Jason Dworkin: Expanding the Legacy
Jason Dworkin, Marc’s son, grew up working alongside his father and officially joined the family business full-time. Under Jason's leadership, he expanded the catering portion of Nana’s Deli, turning it into a vital and thriving part of the business. His innovative approach and focus on personalized service helped solidify Nana’s Deli as a preferred choice for catering events throughout the region. Additionally, Jason helped spearhead the opening of a second Nana’s Deli location in Jersey City, expanding the reach of the beloved brand and introducing their signature dishes to new communities.
A Legacy of Tradition and Growth
Together, Marc and Jason have preserved the beloved traditions that made Nana’s Deli a neighborhood favorite while evolving the business to meet modern needs. Their menu—featuring standout items like matzoh ball soup, brisket, chopped liver, chicken cutlet sandwiches, and their famous tuna salad—has earned a loyal following and consistent praise.
Through its catering services, dine-in experiences, and two locations in Livingston and Jersey City, Nana’s Deli continues to serve as a culinary cornerstone in the New Jersey community, thanks to the dedication and partnership of Marc and Jason Dworkin.
